So, How did you two meet?
The meet "cute"
We either met in the New York lobby of the Saatchi & Saatchi building in March or the parking lot of the Santa Monica Pier in June. Depends on if you think talking is essential to meeting...or if creepily staring at one another counts.
Regardless, we had our first date when Britt came to LA for a commercial shoot. The historic evening included Indian food, a bowling alley bar, and several hilarious-in-retrospect misunderstandings.
Love and hard work
Through the magic of Skype and Victor’s 20+ flights into JFK, we fell in love, learned to kayak, saw Broadway shows, emailed a million gifs, weathered two hurricanes, survived a serious health scare, and ate every slice of coal oven pizza available.
For Victor's birthday that first year, we took a road trip up the coast to SF and tried on an IRL future together in a new, foggy city. It fit.
Oh yeah, "yes"
We've been planning our big party for a minute now, but we officially got engaged in January. Victor popped the question outside of the old apartment in Astoria, where we first discovered that home was wherever we were together.
The Yamie connection
In 2011, Victor was avoiding the sun in sunny Santa Barbara and Britt was writing ad copy for birth control in New York City. We'd never met, but enjoyed bizarre anecdotes about one another from mutual friend and future Yenta of Dishonor Jaime Walker.
A leap of faith
High on his budding feelings and undeterred by the literal continent between us, Victor impulsively flew to New York to spend the 4th of July weekend with Britt. A few days after he showed up on her doorstep in Astoria, Queens, we decided to be together—3,000 miles apart.
We did it!
Victor made the move to the bay in the fall of 2012, living as a foster child to our future officiant Seth Kingry, and his endlessly patient wife Mary Beth. Thanks again, guys. Britt made the cross-country move to our Inner Richmond apartment in June 2013, almost two years to the day after our first date.
Riding into the future
We feel enormously lucky to have come this far together and are excited for the adventures ahead. We can't wait to spend a day celebrating with the friends and family who make us feel luckier still.
